Cursor notifications on your iPhone

How it works

• Cursor runs hooks on beforeSubmitPrompt (a task starts) and stop (it ends). The AgentAlarm hook sends “Cursor: task finished in my-app”, or “stopped with an error”. If you stop the agent yourself, nothing is sent.
• It alerts only when you are away from the computer and the task ran at least 3 minutes.
• Cursor has no hook for “needs your decision”, so the plugin adds a rule that asks the agent to send a quiet notification before it stops to ask you.

Set it up with the plugin

1. Install AgentAlarm on your iPhone. In the app, open Settings → Connected Agents → Connect to copy a one-time text.
2. In a terminal:

   npx agentalarm login "<the text copied from the app>"

3. In Cursor, open Customize → Plugins and install AgentAlarm from the Marketplace, or choose Import from Repo with https://github.com/achubnet/agentalarm-plugins.
4. Ask the agent to “set up AgentAlarm”: its setup skill checks everything and sends a test alert.

After npx agentalarm login, put this in ~/.cursor/hooks.json:

A global install (npm i -g agentalarm, then agentalarm hook cursor) starts faster.

Let the agent ring you

Add the MCP server to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (all projects) or .cursor/mcp.json (one project):

Cursor opens a sign-in page the first time: approve it on your iPhone. Then ask “Ring me when the refactor is done”. The plugin already connects the same tools through npx agentalarm mcp with your login key, so add this URL only without the plugin.
